Why we built it
Many conversion services require an upload before work can begin. That adds transfer time and gives another system temporary access to the source file. We designed this tool around modern browser capabilities so supported conversions can happen on the visitor's own device.
What the service does
The converter accepts MP4, MOV, WebM, and MP3 files and produces a downloadable ZIP containing either a direct Standard HLS playlist or a Master HLS playlist with one video or audio variant, plus MPEG-TS segments. It does not fetch media from third-party URLs, bypass access controls, or provide cloud storage.
Our publishing approach
Alongside the tool, we publish original explanations about HLS structure, codecs, browser limitations, and responsible hosting. We aim to describe limitations honestly instead of promising that every large or unusual media file will work on every device.
Responsible use
Only process files you own or have permission to use. If you have a question about the service, contact support@m3u8convert.com.
